Ilinden, also known as Makedonium is a monument in Kruševo, Macedonia. It was officially opened on August 2 of 1974, on the 30th anniversary of the Second Session of the Anti-fascist Assembly for the National Liberation of Macedonia and the 71st anniversary of Ilinden uprising. The designers of the monument are Jordan Grabuloski and Iskra Grabuloska.

It is dedicated to all the fighters and revolutionaries who participated in the Ilinden uprising of 1903, as well as soldiers-partisans of the Macedonia National Liberation Struggle 1941-1944.

A two-hour drive from Skopje takes you to one of the most beautiful and preserved natural sites on the Balkans, the Jakupica mountain. It is one of the most popular destinations for mountain climbing, hiking, trekking, mountain biking, and similar mountain activities in Macedonia. Its highest peak, Solunska Glava (2,540 m / 8,333 ft above sea level) is among the favorite destinations for mountaineers in Macedonia. We have climbed the peak many times before the kids were born. This was our first time with them and although we didn’t climb the peak (not even intended to), we took the short route to Dolna Babina Dupka. It is a place below Solunska Glava from which you can enjoy the magnificent view on the Nezilovska Stena (Nezilovo Rock) and the peak itself.

Going inside the caves around Lesnovo Monastery, Macedonia.
Lesnovo Monastery is one of the most important medieval monuments of Macedonia. It is located in the middle of a volcanic crater, in a secluded region, where in 11th century lived hermit monks. One of them, St.Gabriel of Lesnovo, lived and died in one of the local caves. There are around 20 caves in the Lesnovo Crater.

The Stone Town of Kuklica is located near Kratovo in Macedonia, Southeastern Europe. The area is consisted of over 120 naturally formed stone pillars.
According to the local villagers, new figures appear every 5-6 years. There are four places at the Balkans where you can see this phenomenon, three of which are in Macedonia.
The earth pyramid in Kuklica was formed as a result of natural erosion processes in the Holocene, during the past 100,000 years. Differences in the erodibility of the volcanic rocks of the area are the main factor for the pillars creation. Thus, soft tuffs rocks on the base are overlaid by solid, sturdy andesites and ignimbrites on the top, which are nearly 30 million years old.
